PORT OF
BUNBURY
Inner
Harbour Development Strategy
The UDC was
engaged by the Bunbury Port
Authority and the City of Bunbury
to assist in the development
of a Structure Plan for the
expansion of the Inner Harbour.
Since completion of the original
scope of works in March 2006,
the UDC has been retained by
the Port Authority as the urban
design coordinator of continuing
development of road and rail
infrastructure, relocation of
the historic Leschenault Homestead,
environmental impact assessments
and landscape design for effective
buffers between port operations
and the adjacent neighbourhoods.
The project
has stimulated plans for realignment
of the Preston River for long
range development of the Port,
expanded wildlife habitat and
a new recreational amenity for
the town. The plan will also
include the definition of performance
criteria which will impose more
stringent environmental controls
on users in the areas of the
port that are closest to existing
residential development.
