TOWN OF KWINANA
Town Centre Master Plan and Design Guidelines

The Kwinana Town Centre is made up of four super-blocks including an educational precinct, civic complex, the Kwinana Hub shopping centre and 34 hectares of undeveloped land owned by the Department of Housing and Works. The UDC was engaged by the Town of Kwinana to represent the community in a two-day design workshop to develop ideas for the revitalisation of the Town Centre, and then to refine the products of this workshop and proceeded with the preparation of design guidelines for each of the four development precincts.

The final Master Plan and Design Guidelines were adopted by Council in January 2008, and the UDC continues to work with the Town of Kwinana Planning Department on various implementation projects, including assessment of mixed-use projects proposed for the new “main street”, revitalisation of the retail mall, housing developments adjacent to the Town Centre and detailed design of the public environment.

With the Town Centre development firmly underway, the UDC is starting work on revitalization of a smaller neighbourhood centre in Medina, one of the oldest communities of the township which is renowned for its unusually attractive landscape qualities.
